NEWFA Cup - 3rd Round
Mold Alexandra travelled to Chirk for the NEWFA cup match, sadly on arrival only ten players are available for selection with two players contacting the Manager with only five minutes to spare before the team sheet is handed in.
Mold Alexandra start the game and try to keep possession waiting for Terry Pughe to arrive and make up the numbers, something that happened when we last played at Holyhead Road when in the Welsh National League, who said lightning don’t strike twice.
However Terry Pughe finally arrives and Mold Alexandra are back to eleven with five minutes on the clock gone, Chirk have the first chance on 13 minutes when they beat the offside trap but after a right wing cross Andy Swarbrick shoots wide.
Then on 15 minutes Mold Alexandra’s Dave Bryan is booked after a foul, Chirk again beat Mold’s offside trap and Swarbrick rounds the keeper and scores in to an empty net for 1-0 on 18 minutes.
Chirk come close again on 25 minutes but Ryan Roberts saves the long range shot, however on 35 minutes Chris Guy loses possession on the edge of the box and the Chirk forward instead of scoring himself passes the ball to his team mate who taps home but is flagged for offside.
But on 40 minutes it is 2-0 as Swarbrick fires home from just inside the area, then 3minutes later its the hat-trick as Swarbrick heads home from a right wing cross.
After the interval Mold Alexandra keeper Ryan Roberts made two very good saves to stop possible goals on 57 and 59 minutes, Mold then replace Rory Colman with Player-Manager Danny Seamarks on 60 minutes.
Then on 73 minutes Swarbrick makes it four with a fine solo goal and soon after hits the post, with 5 minutes left Kevin Price fires home a penalty to complete Mold’s misery.

Bad result no team by the looks of things, never mind back to the real bread and butter and for me it has to be finishing in the top 8.
Upto now Danny and Andy done a very good job, so thank you lads keep up the good work, missed several players at Chirk guess we paid the price for that hope the likes of Owain Roberts and Gary Burns are back against Denbigh we will need them.
Finally why did Gary Ellison sign for Mold only to transfer over to Llangollen without playing a game for us, pointless to me, but then perhaps money may have had something to do with it can't blame the lad for that just that he never gave it a go here at Mold.
I apologise to anybody who went to the time and trouble to visit the game at Chirk on Saturday. It was a very poor performance and we deserved to get beaten. I'm trying to put things right off the field this week and hope to have a few things sorted by the next game. On the player front we are missing quite a few players at the moment and that has caused us problems. Gary Burns has already said that he is unavailable for the next game and Owain Roberts could possibly be missing as well. Steve Hughes has been a big miss as has Dave Pitson who is currently having to work on Saturdays. Craig Roberts has a cut hand and Chris Marland is awaiting an operation. Dave gleave is suspended so we are short in numbers. Hopefully we'll be able to get some of these players back in the near future.
Agree with first poster well done Danny and Andy, it is always easy to knock but no one ever seems to say well done or even thank you.
Once again well done lads.
